Street View Reaches the South Pole

Google Maps has new Street View imagery of the Antarctic.

Google has been helped by the Polar Geospatial Center at the University of Minnesota and the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust to collect 360-imagery of many important locations in the Antarctic. You can now view the South Pole Telescope, Shackleton's hut, Scott’s hutCape Royds Adélie Penguin Rookery and the Ceremonial South Pole in Street View.

The new Street View imagery includes interior views of Shackleton's Hut, lots of snow and one or two shots of penguins.
