Street View - Time to be Taken Seriously

The Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA is currently exhibiting 'Going Places: A History of Google Maps with Street View'.

The exhibit's page on the museum's website takes an interesting look at Street View's precursors, the impact of Street View on on-line mapping and also takes a little peek at what the future might hold for Street View.

The exhibit is running from June 23, 2012 to March, 2013.

Today The Guardian has published an interesting article, entitled 'How Google Street View is inspiring new photography'. The article takes an in-depth look at how three photographers are using Street View to create new artworks.

The three artists featured in the article are old favourites of Google Maps Mania. Here are the direct links to the featured artist's websites:

The Saatchi Gallery in London is exhibiting part of Jon Rafman's Nine Eyes of Street View from 26 July - 19 August 2012.
